Emma + Ben
I was thrilled to be chosen by Emma and Ben as their wedding photographer in Falmouth for this Easter celebration at the St Michael’s Hotel & Spa.
It was a fun start to the day for me, as I joined Ben and his groomsmen at Ocean Bowl in Falmouth as they enjoyed a few beers and a bit of a bowl. This was a great way to kick things off; Ben was completely relaxed and I got the chance to get some creative wedding photographs – the black and white images work particularly well I think. Next I headed over to St Michael’s, which is opposite Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth. Here Emma and her bridesmaids were busy with their preparations. They were having lots fun too, sipping on Champagne whilst helping each other with hair and make-up. Emma was enjoying every minute of this time with her closest friends, as the guests began arriving for the ceremony downstairs. There were so many personal touches that made this day special. One of these was Emma’s bridal bouquet, which was hand-knitted by one of her bridesmaids – a really unique idea which was much admired.
The ceremony was lovely; full of emotion and laughter and I worked hard to make sure my images captured those sentiments. I’m sure Emma and Ben will look back at these pictures from their wedding and cherish them for years to come. Afterwards the guests poured out into the grounds of the hotel, and even indulged in an Easter Egg hunt, which added a magical touch for the children in the wedding party.
Emma and Ben weren’t put off by the breezy conditions, and we made the short walk down to the beach. It’s hard to resist a few shots on the beach as a wedding photographer in Cornwall! The sun shone on the happy couple as they walked down to the shore; a really nice moment. We returned to the guests, who were also enjoying a moment in the sunshine in the grounds of the hotel. It was great to watch and document the afternoon, as family and friends mingled while drinks and canapés were served by the St Michael’s team.
Next, we ventured inside for the reception. The setting had been decorated with lots of fun wedding details, including world-map bunting, quirky illustrations and colouring tasks for the children. Another unique detail was the layout. Ben and Emma shared a table for two in the centre of the room, surrounded by their guests. This was a nice idea, as it meant they got to spend some time together, taking in the sight of their family and friends all around them.
The evening kicked off with a very special first dance, during which the couple couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear! After this they were joined on the dance floor by their eager guests who danced the night away in style – including Emma’s granddad, who put several of the younger guests to shame with his enthusiasm!
I want to say a big thank you to Emma and Ben for letting me photograph their wedding day – I wish them every happiness.
