Anna + Nick
A beautiful, natural wedding with vintage touches at The Green, Cornwall.
Anna and Nick’s wonderful wedding took place in May 2014. It sticks in my memory for the lovely natural feel, and the thoughtful attention to detail that both Anna and Nick gave to it.
The wedding was held at The Green, Cornwall – which was a new venue for me but one I really hope I return to soon. The Green used to be a dairy farm but has been converted into a luxury complex of accommodation, function rooms and beautiful outside spaces: a natural wedding venue in the countryside near Bodmin Moor.
Anna and Nick and their close friends and family were all able to stay on-site, which gave the day a very relaxed feel. While Nick spent time preparing with his groomsmen, Anna and her fantastic bridesmaids had the farmhouse to themselves.Anna and Nick had put a lot of thought into giving their helpers gifts; bridesmaids were treated to jewellery, flowers girls and page boys were presented with cuddly toys, and even personalised cigars were handed out to the boys! I was able to capture these moments unobtrusively, and these are some of my favourite images of the day.
Meanwhile the weather wasn’t playing ball, and the ceremony was calmly moved inside to a granite barn. It was a welcoming space, decorated with vintage touches including bunting, fairy lights, plants and flowers, which gave the wedding a very natural feel. The ceremony itself was intimate and so full of joy; Anna and Nick were glowing. Once the official part was complete, the weather cleared and guests were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings at The Green. Garden games were rolled out on the lawns and drinks were served to the sounds of Swingology – a funky jazz/swing quartet.
Meanwhile I managed to tear Anna and Nick away from their guests and we escaped into the woodland area at The Green, where I got some beautiful, natural portraits of the happy couple. For the speeches, we returned to the granite barn. They were very relaxed and informal and, as with all good wedding speeches, resulted in many tears of joy. It was nice to part with convention and listen to some great speeches from bridesmaids, extended family and friends. Whilst the adults laughed and cried, the children chatted and enjoyed themselves; slightly oblivious but having a great time nonetheless.
The Wedding Breakfast was served in the Green Room, with a marquee joined on for extra space. The tables were simply decorated with white table cloths and seasonal flowers which looked perfect in the rustic setting.
After the meal, a few more games were held outside before the guest got their dancing shoes on for Anna and Nick’s first dance and evening entertainment, which continued long into the night.
