Tell me a little bit about yourselves, for example, where did you meet?
Honestly we can’t remember the first time we met, but we kept bumping into each other through mutual friends.
Can you tell me about the proposal?
Tom hired the Royal Observatory at Greenwich to propose under the stars as we both love anything space related.
Can you tell me about your venues and why you chose them?
We loved Knightor Winery the second we arrived, we didn’t even look anywhere else. We loved the rustic, yet modern decor, chilled vibe, amazing wine and the staff were very accommodating and laid back.
Were you going for a certain style or theme for your wedding?
Following the proposal we wanted a subtle space theme, but didn’t want this to be too obvious. We wanted to keep things simple and everyone to have fun.
What is the most memorable moment from the day?
We don’t have one moment; we had so much fun and managed to spend a good amount of time with each other, as well as our family and friends. Though we would rather forget the awkwardness of cutting our cake with its very thick chocolate rings and the first dance.
Why did you choose Stewart Girvan Photography?
We met Stewart while he was working at another friends wedding. We loved his documentary style of photos and found him so easy to get along with. He listened to what we wanted, but also had some great ideas for shots that we were really pleased with.
How did you feel about having your photos taken and were pleased with your final images?
We felt totally relaxed around Stewart and he made us feel at ease. In fact our favourite photos from the day are when we are messing around- it sums us up as a couple well. Our final images were fantastic, there are so many photos of things happening that we didn’t know took place.
Can you tell me about any other suppliers that contributed and played an important part to your wedding? For example, florist, makeup artist, transport, entertainment
The venue, Knightor Winery, were amazing. We had our ceremony and reception on the premises. They provided wine tasting after the ceremony and the food was delicious. Other than that we did most other preparation ourselves. We hired a disco booth from R2 Events to play the music we had curated and a Yellowbooth photo booth to get even more drunken photos of our guests (of which there were many!!).
Do you have any advice for future couples planning their wedding?
Do whatever makes you both happy, there are no rules on what you need to have, and don’t sweat the small stuff- your guests are unlikely to remember all the small details that might stress you out. If it’s stressing you out or not working, just bin the idea.
