Matt & Shaa’s Tipi Wedding in Cornwall

Tell me a little bit about yourselves, for example, where did you meet?

Shaa is born and raised in Singapore, and it was here that we met in 2015, shortly after Matt moved out to work full time.

Can you tell me about the proposal?

We had just moved apartment and he proposed just after we got the keys and were having our first look around together. He surprised me with the ring and champagne, and we had to sit on the floor to drink it from the bottle as we had no furniture or glasses!

Can you tell me about your venues and why you chose them?

We chose to get married at the family home back in Cornwall, as we had plenty of space and it had a special feeling doing at home amongst family and friends.

Were you going for a certain style or theme for your wedding?

We wanted a kind of rustic and relaxed atmosphere; somewhere where people didn’t feel too constrained by formalities, yet with just enough traditional elements to make it special.

What is the most memorable moment from the day?

Shaa walking through the garden door and seeing her in her dress for the first time!

Why did you choose Stewart Girvan take the photography at your Tipi wedding in Cornwall?

We loved the documentary style of his portfolio and the very natural way in which he captures emotions and hidden special moments.

How did you feel about having your photos taken and were pleased with your final images?

Stewart was amazing, he has an ability to capture all the important moments, all the guests and yet be so unintrusive that you barely notice him (in a nice way!). He made real effort to get pictures of all the guests and he didn’t seem to miss anything. When he says he gets down on the grass or up on a wall etc to get the best shots – he really does mean it!

Can you tell me about any other suppliers that contributed and played an important part to your wedding? For example, florist, makeup artist, transport, entertainment

Cornish Tent Co supplied the tipi; Bella Kernow provided the accommodation tipis; catering by Peter Mundy; make-up by Kerra Griffiths; cakes by Dolly Bird bakes; flowers by Flower Scene of Launceston.

Do you have any advice for future couples planning their wedding?

1. Keep it minimal; it’s best when you do not have to stress too much about nitty-gritty bits.

2. It is your wedding, do it how you like it.
