Polhawn Fort Wedding Photography
Polhawn Fort is one of my favourite wedding venues in East Cornwall. It sits within a designated area of outstanding natural beauty on the Rame Peninsula, overlooking the sea at Whitsand Bay. Metaphorically because it’s rich history, enviable location, breath-taking views and private beach mean that it is simply unlike any other wedding venue in Cornwall!
I love a wedding venue that allows brides and grooms to stamp their personalities onto their wedding day. And that is what I always see when I return to shoot Polhawn Fort wedding photography. The team at Polhawn Fort pride themselves on not offering ‘wedding packages’ but creating bespoke weddings for each and every couple. Everything from black tie to flip flops. Formal wedding breakfasts to a kebab van. It’s all good here!
If you’re looking for a discreet out of the way wedding then Polhawn Fort is perfect. Unlike a hotel wedding where they are other guests knocking about. Polhawn Fort is totally secluded and tucked away. Exclusive use always ensures that the only people you will see on your wedding day are the people you invited to be there.
Another reason why I love shooting Polhawn Fort wedding photography is because it has so many beautiful outdoor spaces that make fantastic backdrops in all of my images. The private beach, the fort gardens and sweeping lawns, the romantic summerhouse, the roof terrace. All with views of the shimmering sea below. It’s such a romantic spot and has to be the best Cornwall wedding venue for getting gorgeous sunset images.
There are steps leading from the fort straight down to the beach and when I shoot Polhawn Fort wedding photography I like to whisk my couples away for a few minutes so that they can take a second to slow down and enjoy the moment. And I get a chance to take some romantic portraits images of them on the beach.
For inside ceremonies and wedding receptions you can choose between The Grand Napoleonic Hall which seats up to 120 guests and The Emperors Room which seats up to 30 guests. The rooms are characterised by their metal spiral staircases, exposed brickwork and hardstone floors that are softened by exquisite lighting and ceiling drapes. Us experienced Polhawn Fort wedding photographers are used to using the available natural light to our best advantage to create beautiful images of our brides, grooms and their guests.
For outdoor ceremonies you can choose to get married in Polhawn Fort’s romantic summer house which is in the beautifully manicured gardens and overlook the bay. The sun-drenched roof terrace makes the perfect place for a drink’s reception and for larger weddings a marquee can be erected on the lawn.
Catering is another area where the team at Polhawn Fort allow their brides and grooms full control. You can hire anybody you like from the finest hi-end caterers to the local fish and chip van. Or even both in the same day! The team at Polhawn Fort know all the best wedding suppliers so when it comes to taking advice you’ll be in safe hands.
I always think it’s funny that historically rich wedding venues are often in buildings that were created for an entirely different purpose. Polhawn Fort was built to prevent hostile landings. And now they throw down their drawbridge and offer a welcome that makes you never want to leave.
Those are just some of the reasons why I always love returning to shoot Polhawn Fort wedding photography. It is an amazing wedding venue but don’t just take my word for it go and take a look for yourself. Visiting beautiful and unique wedding venues in areas of outstanding natural beauty are about as good as wedding planning gets. So have fun with it. And when you’ve found that perfect Cornwall wedding venue, you’ll no doubt be looking for an experienced Cornwall wedding photographer. Feel free to get in touch. I’d love to hear about your wedding plans…
